Assignment: PAIRS

I was lucky there was a sidewalk sale when I was shopping a couple of days ago; I doubt that I would have been allowed to use a camera inside the store. But I am still not through looking for more "Pairs" of something different.

Backyardagains; between assignments

Today I went to Howell's to pet the cat in her family's absence. I also took pics in their yard. You will never guess what this is! Not only that; you might freak out. Give up?
It is a slug slime trail on a leaf. It shown in the sun, like jewels. I had to try for the pic. None of the following pics have been enhanced or changed in any way; they came out of the camera this way. I had so much fun trying for the unusual! I guess it was because it was a beautiful day and I was totally relaxed.

Not only did I check the outside (i.e. take photos) at Howell's, but played inside too. I thought this simple subject would be fun.

I had so much fun while checking the Howell's house while they are on vacation! I moved this shell around, experimenting with light and position. Avvie loved following me; I think she had a soothing affect on my shooting!

Backyardagains; Between assignments

This rose looked painted (I don't know its name) and the photo is a true image. I did no enhancing or coloring.

ALPENTAL REVISITED

Little falls not far from our old home. Grandchildren will remember going here to collect wild flowers.

While we were in Hungary, the Alpental foot brige which we crossed nearly every day, collapsed. We visited the new one - wider, stronger, and very nice.
Our view is still there - how we miss it!

RETURN TO ALPENTAL

We drove up to our old home and neighborhood with our guests, the Kindorfs (from our mission in Hungary). It was sad to see the mountain flowers we so painstakingly planted were run over with weeds. I did find this yellow daisy in the clear and Lo! there was a visitor too !

Still just strolling our yard

I don't know if this really works; whether it is in sharp focus enough to have a meaning. Anyway, this was a spider web after some rain, and the weight of the droplets seems to have elongated the usually round shape of the web. The occupant must have been under cover of a leaf to keep dry!

One has to be so stealthy when approaching a hummer! I decided to take this from inside the house in hopes of not scaring him away. Seems like he liked posing!

Another petal drop, only this one is a purple sweet pea petal and reflects only a mass of pea vines.
This bug was so teensy - could sit on my pinky nail and still be small. Guess you can tell its size because he is on the edge of a sweet pea petal.

Just strolling our yard

This spider is not in focus, but that was not my goal; I wanted to catch the raindrop on the web which reflected the hydrangeas to which it was attached. I think I got it!

Field Trip to Discovery Bay this past week

This toddler could hardly walk on his own, but the open ocean was not daunting to him! Big water; little guy; lots of curiosity and trust.

Field Trip

The tide pool was shallow but I could still get a thin reflexion of the little lighthouse. What a great day!

Field Trip

I don't know the name of these beach-side flowers, but because of the strong breeze which was tossing them around, I call them simply Wind Flowers.

Field Trip

A day for all kinds of enjoyment!

"Field Trip"

I like it that the handsome young red-head is the one master-minding the building of the driftwood fort. He needs red hair for that! How I loved building my forts on the beach!

ASSIGNMENT: Weight

Not hard to find old salmon fishing weights in my husband's tackle box. "Those were the days" of limit of 6 and average weight of catch about 25 pounds!

Assignment: FAVORITES

A favorite person in a candid shot. I love this because Amanda has just discovered a "soft, smoothie" rock, and she obviously takes a great deal of private pleasure in it. A granddaughter after my own heart and pleasures! Yay!

Assignment: FAVORITES

Our own Snoqualmie Falls - so close for us to visit in all her moods. This one was taken at sunset.

Assignment: FAVORITES

Okay, not a flower, but just as scrumptious.

Another poppy. I have discovered them this year as being particularly photogenic.

Assignment: FAVORITES

This pic will always be the first to come to mind when I think of "favorites". I don't know why, but I was really happy with this right away.

Assignment: FAVORITES

This is a hard assignment, only because I have to curtail my posting urge. I will try to keep this to just a couple of flowers and macros - my favorites, anytime!

No assignment; just regular stuff

See what I mean by our fresh raspberries? Picked not 5 feet from the patio breakfast table and eaten sun-warmed. Yummm!

No assignment; just posting

The Palouse Falls fall about as far or further than our Snoqualmie Falls. They seem to come out of nowhere; amazing that from that dry, flat country, this squeezes through so majestically.

In-between assignments; just fiddling around

Dick and I took a little backroads trip to E. Washington and into Idaho this week-end. The Nez Perce and Palouse country is so different, but beautiful! We found we were actually following the Lewis and Clark Trail. I have been a Puget Sound snob all my life, but there really is some picturesque country "over there". I think boredom might set in really fast though.

ASSIGNMENT: Celebrate

We didn't see or "do" fireworks. We entertained at home instead. This pic shows part of the table setting on our patio.

ASSIGNMENT: Celebration

Celebrate fresh strawberries, rbubarb and raspberries. The latter is from our yard. This was part of our "4th" dinner. I am also experimenting with edges as you can see; I am not sure I like them so far.

ASSIGNMENT: Celebration

Pat and I had the same idea and we think it is great how different our photos turned out! I was going to crop away the plastic chairs at the top, but stopped myself because it is part of the whole scene of home-show fireworks. This is the aftermath of what we heard from our house until almost midnight last night. This home is right around the corner from us.

ASSIGNMENT: negative space

OK, another one with not enough negative space, but I want to wish you all a very festive and safe and happy Fourth of July!

ASSIGNMENT: Negative space

Funny how much alike are the ice cream and the tulip! I know there is not enough negative space here. I am turning this homework in just barely in time, but I will still try again.
