Reflected crane

Architectural lines do not deviate, but add a reflection in the grid windows, and I love the way distortion makes the design. This is in crane city, i.e. Bellevue

Arlington cemetary

The lines go on forever; a most humbling, stirring sight. Patriotism swells.

Liberty Bell, close up of crack

Since I am still sick and cannot go outside to shoot for the assignment (perhaps someone should come inside here and shoot me!), I have browsed through photos of our recent backroads trip around the U.S for this week's assignment. So many important lines!

Amish quilt on clotheline

It is easy to see why this caught our eyes while driving a little back road! Colors, yes, but the exactness of the lines even as the quilt was waving in the breeze, was stunning

Dot-to-dot lines!

These were definitely lines not to loose as the snow got heavier and the day, darker.

Agate Girl

This was the very first photo I thought of when I heard our assignment. I took this in the art museum in Budapest; I had paid for being able to tote my camera with me. Of course I could use no flash and this 19th-century artist's work was in a corner. I was so pleased that my setting worked! It appears the girl is examining gems, being as she has adorned herself with some of them and she is inside. But I LOVE to collect agates from the beach, so I have named her "Agate Girl" because her demeanor and her treasures are exactly how I look at and feel about agates.

Poppy, backlit

The weather in Salt Lake was ideal this last week while I was there. This poppy was sunbathing on Temple Square.

Pear blossoms in Utah

The pear trees right now in the Salt Lake valley are at their prime. I was so lucky to be there this last week.

Dew on peachy tulip

Spring in the Northwest is the best of all. It has to be the water!

Johnie Jump-up, center

Johnie Jump-ups are much smaller than pansies and I love their eyelash centers; as delicate as a spider web. Mother Nature is a make-up artist!

New blossoms; new snow level

Sunday morning and another new snow level! But it is okay with me because we are surrounded by spring colors in all the blooming trees.

Assignment: Movement

I have to cheat on this week's assignment because I can't take a fresh photo this week. I am leaving town early tomorrow and will not have access to be able to post a blog. This was taken last week though. The rest of the assignment photos are from my files.

Have you ever seen a swan just sitting on water?

No; even if hardly noticeable, they are always paddling, turning, "cruising"! This is gentle movement.

You just have to know how fast this potter's wheel was spinning. This is creative movement.

Lastly, our very own Matriarch of Movement. This was taken at sunset.

They don't just fly in a "V", they swim in a "V" too; of course, with a leader, which place seems to be changing at the time of this photo.

This Middle Ages walk leads backwards in time, even centuries.

I would go wherever this leads me - such beautiful countryside to see, I wouldn't even mind which direction it headed!
